I wasn't surprised by the extensions, but I sure thought that it meant they'd be doing a full rebuild.

Two separate sites show that Hurdle makes $1.125m per year. In the world of pro sports, even for the Pirates, that is a manageable amount to eat. So what keeps him around? My guess is his good standing as a loyal puppet in Nutting's self ordered austerity program.



I believe the trades this week were made because of the smothering criticism by the fans...not just because TBMTIB wanted to better the team. They felt the pain, wanted relief, and made some trades. The fan base needs to remind Mgt daily how bad Clint is, and how worthless the trade acquisitions are if the man responsible for calling the shots is incompetent, or worse yet, indifferent to on-field performance and results.



I just cant belive, even for the Pirates, the fear of dead money is what keeps Clint on as manager.
