Kingham and Brault were both provided opportunities this year that they neither earned in 2018, nor in spring training this year. They are both WW fodder at this time, and could bounce around the majors as they would probably be picked up by some team with ample playing time to offer should the Pirates waive them.

That the organization is clinging to these two scrubs is incredibly frustrating.

yes, and they must have known this for awhile.

right now though there's the matter of who else would you use? one look at the Indy rotation numbers was enough for me to get back to doing my actual job for a change.

I think you guys are bing a bit premature in giving up on Kingham. Tampa Bay totally fleeced us in the Archer trade, and it's going to look even worse if Baz develops into anything at all, which he certainly could. That said, giving up on Kingham could be Glasnow 2.0, not to that extreme, mind you, as Glasnow was virtually unhitable at times in the minors. But, I do think Kingham can develop into a solid pitcher. Ace level? No. #3-4 level starter? Yes. Those guys are valuable. So, I wouldn't give up on him just yet. That said, he has no business being in the rotation for a team ostensibly competing for at least a Wild Card spot this year. Let him work out of the bullpen and build some confidence. But don't trade him or DFA him.

Didn't Alex McRae just get named IL pitcher of the week or something? And, I'll go back to the idea I suggested the other day. Put Liriano back in the rotation. He was starting as recently as last year. If he can get. you through three innings (one time through the order) you can piggy-back him with Kingham against a lineup that will likely be loaded with right-handed hitters, which might let Kingham experience a bit more success at this stage of his career.

For his career, Kingham has a .722 OPS against vs. right handers, and a .959 OPS against vs. left handers.

Not a bad thought considering how upper management runs the organization. They have the ole 'duct tape and glue can fix anything' mind set.

The guy I think is ready is JT Brubaker. He was our minor league pitcher of the year last year and decided to go on the IR right before the opportunity door opened for him this year!

Maybe in the near future as I'm not sure what his current injury is. But I think he might help. Keller is just not ready.

Right now I'm feeling like one of those swollen thumb injuries is about to beset Kingham ...
