The Apologists always pick the highest salary guy on the roster and start banging on him so as to pre-apologize for the coming salary dump. Once, Polanco is gone, they will immediately jump over and start wolfing on Frazier. If Reynolds was the highest paid player on the team, they would be calling him a chump too.

Nogowski ties it up with the bases loaded walk. BC sure does know how to identify ballplayers.

The race for next year's #1 pick is heating up. We walk in a run to give AZ the lead. They don't want it so they walk a Pirate with bases loaded to give the run back.

I think there are a lot players, especially in the bullpen that have a good chance of being replaced next year.  This is their audition and evaluation year.  Hartlieb and Crick have already failed.


Holmes seems to be teetering on the edge as well.

Underwood just isn't a major league pitcher.

As I’ve told you a million times, I’ve never cared one time how much money any player makes. Good for them when they can get it. I only care about a player’s ability to contribute to team wins.



Polanco has done very little of that in several years. He offers nothing to the team offensively or defensively. In fact, he’s been a liability with both his bat and glove. If he were making the league minimum, you’d be screaming about Cherington signing him.



A high salary doesn’t lead to a good player. A good player leads to a high salary.

As a few others have noted recently, Joe Block seems better. He got off on tangents about golf and on-deck circles and batting gloves but generally stayed focused on the game much more than in the past. But that soft voice of Kevin Young has started reminding me of Toby Flenderson on "The Office."



The radio crew is at Chase Field. But the TV crew looks like they are back in the studio watching on TV.
