He cleared waivers and the Pirates were going to outright him to Indy. He chose free agency. The White Sox signed him to a minor league contract, so he's back at AAA anyway. But I guess he felt there was a better opportunity there than with the Pirates.

Harrington optioned back to AAA. They sign 18 year old Stainer Valdez to a minor league contract.

If not Stratton then maybe Burrows. Starting tomorrow they have 10 straight games without an off day. If they want to insert a 6th starter it could be Burrows. He last started 4 days ago.

Nicolas was pitching poorly at Indy so this is surprising. Made 4 appearances there:

1. 1 IP, 3 hits, 3 ERS, 1 BB, 2 SO, 27, pitches
2. 1 IP, 1 hit, 0 ERs, 1 BB, 3 SO, 20 pitches
3. 1.2 IP, 4 hits, 3ERs, 1 BB, 2 SO, 30 pitches
4. 1 IP, 0 hits, 0 ERs, 0 BB, 1 SO, 15 pitches.

Total: 4.2 IP, 8 hits, 6 ERs, 3 BBs, 8 SO, 11.57 ERA.

At least the last outing was good, but took 15 pitches despite no walks or hits. He's had trouble throwing strikes at every level.
