No corresponding move will be necessary as the Pirates already had a vacancy on their 40-man roster.
Banuelos was DFA'd by NY. He will replace Banda who was DFA'd.

That's very good news!

Suwinski and Madris are still here

Chang is off our hands which is even better

Not so good news- VanMeter is still here.

Marcano was useful. VanMeter is not. So naturally, Marcano was optioned and VanMeter remains. This calls into question the judgment of the Cherington regime, which already includes an incompetent manager.

I’m guessing here but Marcano is being sent down so that he can play everyday.  Cherington may have plans to play Newman in order let other teams to scout him. As for VanMeter, I have no idea why he’s on the team.

I will second that except he can Pitch and Catch

Pirates should just keep Quintana and Vogol for the rest of season. Maybe offer an extension to Q ?

Needless to say, I was upset with the moves. Most of all has to do with VanMeter. No offense, but Marcano and Park are much better all around players and he more than Yoshi should be gone.

As far as Yoshi, nice he had two hits, but he was signed to be a power hitter not a slap hitter. But I can at least understand a platoon with him and Chavis.
