Someone will pick him up and he will become Cory Segar. :'(
It was just a matter of time. Tucker can't hit from either side of the plate. The Pirates gave him every opportunity because they had invested a 1st round draft pick on him. But other teams won't have any incentive to keep him around when he doesn't hit. He might even clear waivers and get outrighted to Indy. Or other teams will give him a chance until they see he can't hit. He was only hitting .135 at Indy.

I cannot fault the Pirates if Tucker begins to become the player who they thought he was whenever he was drafted. He was given many chances by the Bucs ,and never produced. He struck out too many times, especially for a non power player.

I could IF, in the unlikely case, he should thrive in some other system.

If it was to occur, wouldn't that make you question how some other coaching method succeeded when all of the opportunities he was given with the Pirates didn't?

Again, I don't expect it to happen, but it could. We've seen it before, just as we've seen cases where the opposite held true- another team's castoff did well with the Pirates.

A change can do you good.

I don't care how well he does in another organization, Tucker was never going to do well here.  For me, this move comes at least a year too late.

BC was waiting to acquire a worthy replacement and finally found one.

It took over a year to find someone > Cole Tucker. That, by itself, says so much and more.

How long has the current GM had time to find someone better?

What's your point? You don't know the answer? Look it up.

While you're at it, look at some of Cherington's picks at the Blue Jays and Red Sox. No GM has a perfect record when it comes to draft picks.

On any team.

In any sport.
