Why bother sending him out there in the first place if he's only going to go to two guys?

Is it good to do?
he only was going to pitch to three guys, which he did. Manaea came in when it was Suwinski's turn to bat, which was probably the plan all along, knowing he'd bat 4th or 5th

Oviedo wiggles out of it with a strike out. 62 pitches, unless he cleans it up real quick, he'll be lucky to go 5 full innings. 5 walks will drive up that pitch count.

On the bright side, only one of those walks have managed to score.

I know what happened. I'm wondering what the reasoning behind it was. Seemed like he threw only a few pitches. Why bother? Is there a benefit that hasn't crossed my mind?

Castro makes a nice play on a grounder up the middle, but throw pulls Joe off the bag

I think the theory of it is that the opener can just go as hard as he can. The actual starting guy comes in, I'm guessing theoretically taking it to the closer if there's a lead

fly to center, back to back K's. Oviedo looked much better that inning.
