Skenes works three and a third shutout innings tonight, giving up one hit, two walks, while striking out eight. He was lifted after 65 pitches (likely predetermined), 37 of them for strikes.

Priester has pitched fairly well in 3 short outings at Indy. He's only pitched 5.2, 4 and 4 innings in his 3 starts. So he'll fit right in with the Pirates A.S.S. (abbreviated starts system).
HAH! Finally, a system I’d be qualified to be in.

I am sure Tellez will soon break out of his month slump, but he continues to struggle Jake Lamb is having a very productive month in AAA.

After checking some stats for the Pirates hitters in the lower minors I came away very disappointed. For instance Johnson at Greensboro, a hitters ballpark is hitting.175. Nobody in AA or single A are knocking the cover off the ball. It is a little concerning that it appears throughout the Organization many position players are struggling.

Tellez isn't struggling. He's just being Tellez. After today, he's at .205. Last year he hit .215 and .219 the year before that. So he's right around his usual numbers. I don't say that to denigrate him. It's just that when the Pirates sign poor performers and they perform poorly, it's not something they will snap out of. Similarly, Chapman's lack of control is now in its 4th consecutive year. That's why better teams didn't scarf him up in free agency. Ditto for Tellez. Tellez isn't the answer at 1B. He never was. Cherington shops at the free agent bargain basement. And he gets what he pays for. :(

Jake Lamb may not be much better, but he may be worth bringing up, and cutting Tellez.

Paul Skenes threw 6 shutout innings last night ( April 30)
Even if he would do that when they bring him up, there is no guarantee
that the Bucs would win

You gotta love minor league baseball. I was just reading that in early April, pitcher Jhosmer Alvarez of the Visalia Rawhide, struck out all five batters he faced in an inning, two reaching on wild pitches. He then struck out the first hitter he faced in the following inning, who also reached base on a wild pitch. He was then removed from the game. He therefore struck out six guys in one official inning of work.

Since they are bringing up Nick G. why not include Bae who hit his third home run tonight. I would stick Bae in centerfield, he will get on base more than Taylor.
