Royals in full blown Pirate mode there, thankfully,. Only manage one run.

Ortiz is another in the long line of Pirates pitchers who frustrate me to no end. Throws hard, has good stuff, but has little idea where the ball’s going. It’s surprising he only gave up one run after that mess. I hope Shelton’s not going to let him go back out. 1-0 KC.

Okay, no hitters are taken care of. This game was starting to resemble one of those late August games between two teams going nowhere.

Okay, Suwingandamisski has us back on track.

The 5th was a ridiculous inning for the Pirates. After Joe walks, Endy flies out on ball four, then Palacios, of all people, tries to bunt, fouling it off and putting himself in a hole. Of course, he struck out. Then after a Peguero single, Suwinski does what he does best and strikes out on three pitches, the first two called. That inning was an embarrassment.

Just when I want to send Ortiz packing, he retires the side in order. Still 1-0 Royals after 5.

The Royals’ advanced scout has done his homework. I’ve noticed that Ragan’s has been throwing a lot of change-ups, just like Jordan Wicks of the Cubs did last Saturday. We know how that went.

Did this Ragans pitch against the Bucs before? Some reason I recall this guy owning us once before.
