I know it's only a small sample size but you cant send Bell down after how impressive he looked in the 3 at bats he had over the weekend against the Cubs. The Pirates are a better team with him on the Major League roster whether he is starting everyday at 1st base, or whether he is starting a few times a week and coming off the bench. He deserves to be here period.
I agree. But if you believe what the Pirates are saying, his stay will be short.
I know Bell has 10 errors at 1st base in the Minor League's but will having him out there at 1st base pretty much everyday over Jaso or whoever plays at 1st base make the Pirates a worse team for the rest of the season?? Absolutely not. Nobody can be as bad as Pedro was at 1st base and the Pirates won 98 games last year with him over there day in and day out. The bottom line is you need to stick with players who give you a better chance of winning and Bell definitely does do that.
And if anything by having these young guys up here and in the rotation such as Taillon, Glasnow, Kuhl, etc, and Josh Bell playing at 1st it's going to make the Pirates a better team in 2017 when they really have a chance to be pretty good.
Rumors of Josh Bell getting the call for tonight.

Too bad the pitching has been so bad to carry that extra bat. I don't think the Pirates can afford to have an extra bench player.
I don't think the Pirates should give up on Jaso. He hasn't been bad at all. Frazier adds so much too playing different positions and his speed on the bases. Plus, he is hitting too.
There might not be a place for Bell unless they shuffle pitchers up and down between starts. Unless Jaso can be traded, I don't see how Bell can stay for the long haul.

Of all the places for whom Jaso would be an upgrade at 1B, his former team, the Oakland A's, seems like the best fit.
Yonder Alonso is having a bad year at 1B. Their DH, Billy Butler, is having a bad year. There's no 5th OF having a good year. In other words, Jado would appear to improve their offense.
From what I've heard, Jaso is a good teammate that would be welcomed back to the clubhouse.
The A's are reported to have bullpen help available. Mark Rzepczynski would help us as a lefty specialist.
Is this an even trade? If the A's won't bite, we have prospects aplenty to sweeten the pot.

Nuttings too cheap to put that name on the back of a jersey.
