These first two games of this series have just been terrible for the Pirates especially with the bats. You don't deserve to make the playoffs when you can't beat teams like the Brewers. Caminero still stinks and still gives up way too many runs when called upon.

Pirates also blowing chances to pass up both the Mets who continue to lose to Colorado and gain a game on either the Cards or Marlins who are playing each other this weekend. Very frustrating to keep blowing opportunities. Can't continue to keep doing it.

It looks like the Melancon trade is showing negative effects on the players. Their spirits are down. You can see it with the base running miscues. They are mentally defeated against a team without Lucroy in the line up and against a pitcher that has not been dominating.

Things definitely don't look good at the moment.

Against Atlanta, we get to see Matt Kemp.

Nats come to town 3rd to last series of year (before cards and Cubs series) for 3 games Friday Sept 23- Sun Sept 25th

Hopefully it will be a very interesting series

It's unfortunate that NH bombed the offseason, and put the 2016 team in this position, along with cutch, liriano and franciso (the mouth) cervelli. The jaso signing unfortunately has failed now too, and the first base curse continues in Pittsburgh.

No worries though, we won a Pennant in 79'.

Don't know when the Pirates plan on going for it but it better be in the next 3 years between 2017-2019. The neccessary improvements need to be made, and the money that Bob Nutting won't continue to spend to get better pitchers in here needs to be spent.

This regime took the Pirates from horrible to competitive. But I think this past off season showed Nutting what it would cost to take the next step, and he decided competitive was just fine.

Exactly. And for loyal diehard fans like myself who have spent their hardworking money on season ticket plans in the last 10-15 years and supported this team a lot in the 20 losing seasons that's simply unacceptable and not good enough. The money is there to make major upgrades on this team in the next few seasons. As you said Bobster we will continue to see if Nutting continues to be cheap.

Everyone knows if you put a big amount of chips in and go for it (like KC, Baltimore, Cleveland) you're just mortgaging the future.

Stay small, pay little, never trade top prospects. Be happy with a pennant once a generation

The Pirates easily had the horses to win the division or the World Series last season. They just happened to play in the only division in baseball where the team ahead of them was better.

I think they had a team that could have won it each of the last two years as well. They just didn't.

I also think there is enough talent on this year's team to put them in the conversation. Too bad the talent's not performing. You can blame the FO for a bad offseason and a bad year in general, but if everyone is playing the way they are capable of playing or even in the ballpark of it, this a team that's a lot closer to the Cubs.
