If we don't get another OF this offseason, we might see him earlier - ready or not.

I doubt Meadows sits the bench in Pittsburgh. I would assume he will be up later in the season. He would at least be a September call up.

I am hoping for an OF in the Harrison deal. But I expect Luplow to start in the OF with Rodriguez (and Frazier, when Moroff plays) getting time out there too.

Honestly, I expect a starting lineup that looks something like this:

C-Cervelli

1B-Bell

2B-Harrison

SS-Mercer

3B-Freese/Moran platoon (majority reps for Freese)

LF-Polanco

CF-Marte

RF-Frazier/Rodriguez platoon.

Moroff and Luplow being bats off the bench.

A lot of this is the PR spin. If NH was to be totally honest he could say, "We sold you on the idea that we rebuilt the club into a team that can compete over a long period of time rather than mortgaging the future for 1 or 2 years. But we failed and now we're selling off our best players for prospects and rebuilding again and this time we'll try to get it right as long as it doesn't cost much." But he can't say that. Instead, we are told they are not rebuilding at all. In fact, they are still expecting to compete this year. The plan is still on. After a 2-year lull, they're back to being competitive. Of course, everyone knows that's not true. But I guess I can't blame him for trying to put a positive spin on what has been a failed plan. As long as the fans don't get their hopes up.

We are not rebuilding.

LF - acquisition from the Muts if that deal goes through with the right name ... otherwise its Luplow

CF - Marte

With the dust settling a little, here's a Fangraphs analysis of the trade (surprised to see their 55FV for Musgrove):

I think Boswick makes the team and  he will become the new Jay Hay, has doubles power plays multiple positons and coming off a nice full season at AAA. Has earned a chance IMHO.I think Luplow goes back to AAA for more seasoning. I like that the bucs gave him a chance last year because he was on fire down below but not ready yet and I don't want him sitting on the bench in the show .Guy is going to be real part of the future I think needs more AAA ab`s. Moroff does nothing for me , low avg some pop but doesn't swing the bat always looking for a walk but he can play SS so he will most likely make team.Mercer in a contract year bet ya he has a real solid season.
