He had a putrid start last year when called up, then did very well after settling in.    Before yesterday, he had 16AB over like at 15 game span.   "Hey Kid, you're starting today against Strasburg"

I agree, lets see what Moroff can do with regular playing time. Let Frazier sub in outfield (instead of playing Rodriguez out there). If Moroff bombs then we'll know he is unlikely to be a regular. But it looks like there is a chance he could hit for power and he draws walks and is decent in field.

He certsainly didn't do himself any favors last night, but I agree. Start him every day for a week- minimum. We know what we have in Fazier. It's a crime that we do not know yet what Max can do.

Frazier's bat has been better in the past and it can be a very good bat. Her certainly didn't take advantage of this opportunity.

I am kind of shocked how bad the defense has been at second base since Harrison got hurt. Not only did Moroff miss that back hand, he and Mercer should have turned some double plays. I expected range to suffer, but not routine grounders or throws.

Seems everyone on here has bought into Hurdle's theory that early games aren't very important and certainly not as important as games later in the season when your out of the race. What's wrong with you all every win is precious and you have to put the best team on the field everyday. Moroff can get his time in after a game gets out of control. What would this series been if we had put our best team on the field Monday instead of our worst hitter batting 3rd replacing one of our best hitters, against the worst pitcher we faced all series. This manager is a joke and it seems several on here have bought into his philosophy and are ok with coming in last for the next 20 years.

No, the starting second baseman is hurt. Someone needs to play. Hurdle hasn't been using the bench much at all this year.

That was the first time Marte didn't start all year. He will get rested here and there too. I don't see a beef with Hurdle so far this year when it comes to him bench usage. The starters have been playing more and more unlike previous years.

I thought the only DP we had a chance on what Harper's.  A slight mishandle and he beat it.  Whether if was Difo or Michael A Taylor on the 2nd one, I cant remember, but that one was clean and beat because it wasn't hit hard enough and they're fast. All 3 run well, in fact.  Harper too.

Hurdle bringing up both of them post-game was bushleague and an attempt to defend Nova and his 11 hits in 4.2.  That's what happens when you pitching to contact and the only plus pitch you have is a fastball.   (Which the nats have teed off on all series).  The contact will beat you often.  He threw a meatball changeup to Harper, and a whole lotta fastballs that got decked.

I have no concerns about Max's defense at 2b.  It was a bad game.  He's played a ton of minor league games and Major league games last year to demonstrate he's a solid defender.

Can he hit and walk?   Dunno.  Maybe. maybe not. We know he can K with the best of them.  What else is there?  Once Kang is ready and JHay is back, It will be too late to find out.  Then next year he will be 25 and we still won't know the answer.

I like Frazier's bat, but he is not a good second baseman at all. Moroff might very well be a better option, right now, than Frazier.  We'd just like to find out now before J-Hay is back.

In your rush to defend Hurdle, you missed the part about the guy with worst average on the team, except pitchers, was bating 3rd. I've seen little league managers do a better job than Hurdle. He's a disgrace and I predict this team when it's all said and done will be in last place in this division, not that they're the worst team but they have poor management.

It wasn't a rush to Hurdles defense. Marte hasn't sat all year. he has played in every single game. He is going to get some rest at some point. His back up isn't going to be very good. They will be one of the worst players on the team and why they are the back ups.

The line up needs changed. I have stated that. That would be going against Hurdle's line up. If the whole line up isn't going to be re-worked, I see no problem in inserting the back up in the spot they take. I hate when one player changes the whole line up. I would not do that myself. Why ruin the whole line up so one player can play?
