Kingham sharp tonight. Almost perfect, but had a two hitter through 8 innings. Get him back into the rotation, and keep him there for the remainder of the season.

Kingdom is no doubt at worst the #3 on this staff. He's 25 years old pitching in AAA . I watched every start for the Pirates and he was very unlucky on the whole of his starts. Pitched to a way better ERA . Absolutely insane that he is in AAA. Buffoons...

This Kingham and Polanco and SRod situation is the nail in the coffin for all those folks who were claiming that fans saying this organization didn't much care about winning were wrong.

It is abundantly clear that this year they are not showing any urgency to win (by seeming to refuse to field their best team)

Yes. I'm sure they care about winning. I'm also sure it's not their #1 priority and they are not making "baseball decisions" as used to be claimed.

I'm convinced that behind closed doors, TBMTIB says it would be nice to win but that's not what this season is about. It's about trying to develop a young, minimally priced pitching staff so that Nutting can save money (with Nova and Vazquez the only ones not making less than $600,000), it's about trying to improve Polanco (he can share time equally with 3 better players), it's about trying to improve Bell (he hit cleanup for 2 months while hitting worse than Mercer), it's about trying to get their money's worth out of S-Rod. Of course before the season when they were pushing season ticket sales they weren't about to tell fans to expect plenty of losing. So NH made comments about this being a competitive team. It helped that Dickerson fell into their laps which helped promote the myth that they were all about winning. (But of course he sits 1 of 4 days so Polanco's development can continue.) Some fans believed NH so now when they see that winning does not seem to be the #1 priority they think the team is run stupidly. This is what happens when they lie to the fans. This is clearly not a team focused on winning. David Freese said as much prior to the season. Harrison echoed that. Everything the FO has done and the absurd decisions Hurdle makes reinforce that.

It's about asset management, plain and simple. If it was about winning Kingham would replace Nova immediately. Polanco would only start once a week, and SRod would be released.

It time for Freese to speak up again. Who knows, it might help get him dealt to a contender.
