The crowd for this doubleheader looks absolutely pathetic. They don’t even have 20,000 people there it looks like. For a beautiful Saturday afternoon in mid July that is very discouraging.

Totally crazy idea, but I wonder what would happen if they started just letting people in for free. Would that fill the stands? Could we even afford that? That would be a big hit financially, but you might have a lot of people watching games and maybe enough of them would start really enjoying watching our current players and leave their 'Cutch angst in the past where it belongs.

I don't think it's crazy at all. Just do it for one game and those who already have bought tickets could get a voucher for a free game. It could be coordinated with Nutting taking out a full page ad in the PPG essentially apologizing for the decline of the team and a promise to do better (even if he doesn't mean it). That would go a long way toward repairing the damage done by TBMTIB to its fan base. The sale of food, drinks and merchandise to a probable sell out crowd would help make up for the lost ticket revenue and fans who boycott games might begin to feel differently if the team made such an overture to its fans.

It may be fleeting, and of somewhat small solace, but what a great day to be a Pirate fan?

And how about our Sunday Lineup practitioners?

Freese. 2-4

Moroff, his 3rd HR

Luplow two HR

Holmes 6 shutout innings.

What a great day.

Honestly I'm stunned. Basically speechless.

Stars of the game were Clay Holmes ... and Luplow?

And Moroff?

And Marte and Polanco remain scalding hot at the same time?

And that makes 4 straight over the team that entered with the best record in the NL?

Is this some kind of Pirates Bizzaro World?

A very fun day. Pirate fans don't get many of them. But this was surely one. :)
