I like 24 miles from where Matt grew up. Word on the streets here is that Matt Adams has little desire to play for the Pirates.

If Adams can play passable outfield, he might be the perfect choice. Can play first if Bell needs a rest (or is in a severe slump) and can fill that gap till Polanco is back (I don't really think Polanco will be worth much next year. Shoulder surgery is a tough recovery. The issue would be whether Adams is interested in Pittsburgh. Jolly Roger is casting possible doubt on that.

I would like it if they signed Adams, but if they do I think it will have to be an early signing just like they did with Martin in the Fall of 2012. I think if they wait to sign him past the Winter Meetings he will be gone. He has been a very good player for the Cardinals in his two tours with them, and I believe they will seriously attempt to sign him this winter.
