I wonder who in the pen isn't available
God forbid he leave Liriano in to pitch another inning. I mean he did throw 13 pitches striking out 2

Yeah.

How many times do we have to see this giving away games. These are the kind of games that can start another 8 game slide or more. Thanks CH, he actually had a well managed game last night and then turns around almost immediately and pulls a stunt like this.

Yea this has the potential of being an absolutely disastrous loss for the Pirates going on this tough 11 game road trip. This is the last possible thing that this Pirates team needed with all these injuries especially to the pitching staff.

Well, that was disappointing. But I don't really fault Hurdle for that. I suppose you could make the case that he should have gone to Lyons earlier. But would you rather have Pence face the lefty Lyons or the righty Feliz? Without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I'd rather he face Feliz. It's frustrating when that many guys are not available in your bullpen. Maybe they should have DL'd Kela and lengthened their bullpen a little bit.

I would rather he faced the RH Crick who pitched back-to-back days on the 4th and 5th, had the 6th off, then pitched yesterday, but apparently wasn't available today??

Going to need a BP arm going to StL I think.

Not much in AAA for arms on the 40-man

I think it's just Holmes (has not been good this year), Keller, and Brubaker (who's hurt)

Could move Burdi to 60-day and bring up someone else, like DuRapau (has been good this year) or Waddell (has not been good this year)

We need starters that can go deeper in games. Granted, our last two starters aren't that capable. As someone pointed out, I would have had Liriano go another inning. To be honest, I'd trade him now before he implodes. Classic ending.

This attitude is why the Pirates haven't won a championship in years. You don't give away any game, a game like this can cost you many more games. To sit and watch Feliz haplessness and not be ready to make a move is absurd. That's kind of what you have a manager for, to manage situations. So frustrating to see anyone support such stupidity makes me sick.

They aren't going to win many games with the pitching staff as currently constructed.

The offense has not scored over 7 runs in a game yet this year, and they've done that twice, so essentially every game is going to rely on the bullpen to win.

With RichRod and Kela being bad/bad and hurt, the bullpen is left with Crick, Liriano and Vazquez as the only reliable arms (post-Burdi).

The starting pitching has kept them in the 500 range, but now that Archer and Taillon are out indefinitely, they are teetering on collapse.

It's definitely injuries, but the margin for error on a $70M payroll is low, so basically you suffer a couple of injuries at the same time and you are fielding AAA level lineups.
