Very good to see Musgrove getting back on track.

I guess in post game interviews (I was long asleep) Hurdle implied that he'd be pitching on short rest next time around on Saturday.  That wouldn't make me sad.

I don't know if I like this idea. Maybe that's why they pulled him when he was rolling and had only thrown 75 pitches. Makes sense. Still, I'm not a fan of pitching guys on short rest. It takes them out of their routine, it increases the risk of injury, you're pitching tired so you're not as effective...I'm not a fan. But, Musgrove knows his body better than I do, and Hurdle knows the team better than I do, so, if they think they can do it, more power to them.
Saturday would be Brault's turn. Maybe Brault will be optioned today when they activate Archer.

Yeah, they simply can't continue to nuke giant holes in the relief staff with 3 inning starts every five days (twice every five days?)

I like the plan, trusting they would not do anything that involves any risk of injury. Musgrove can be the best pitcher on the staff. If they can work him in, I’m in favor.

I agree that this is probably the reason he was pulled after 7.

And finally - Clint is not following the Book with this decision. About as clear a case that Clint is playing to win that I’ve seen.

Someone needs to ask the writer about his update on Bell. Maybe the guy can get more quotes from his unnamed source?

I remember a few people criticizing (not here necessarily) NH for standing up for him.  Even if you don't like the GM, it was ridiculous to me that people didn't like him defending his players.  If you remember the interview audio he was genuinely angry.

Neal was Genuine in his anger. I don’t know if I heard much about Neal’s angry response, but there were a lot of people agreeing that Josh was a bust.

I thought he'd be better this year, meaning better than last year but not godzilla numbers and maybe not as good as his rookie year.

I'm thinking Holmes will go down for Archer.

Maybe Musgrove will go Saturday on short rest and Sunday will be Keller debut (it would be his normal day to pitch).

Brault will probably go down then if that was the case.

Also, Stallings only has 2 rehab days left and PBC will need to make a decision on what to do with him.

Brault and Kingham were equally terrible in their bid for a regular slot in the rotation with Taillon out.

Moving Musgrove up a day would indicate that neither of them are in line to start another game in the near future, as either Brault or Kingham could start saturday on normal rest and then Musgrove on sunday, so no reason to move musgrove up a day if one of the suckos is going start this weekend anyway.

I don't mind moving Musgrove up a day but it seems like it only delays the inevitable. The team needs another starter even after Archer comes back. Both Brault and Kingham are not ready to even spot start at this point.
