Well it was Musgrove that gave up the 4 spot and Hartlieb, Liriano, and Vazquez shut the door.   Sure!

I disagree about Musgrove. I have a high degree of confidence when he’s in the game. I like his stuff and love his attitude. I think it was his bulldog attitude that got him in trouble in the 7th - just get the out at 1st.

He learning and I truly believe by the end of the year he’ll be a guy we want pitching in critical games.

Yea I feel confident as well when Musgrove is in the game he shows a lot of mental toughness and it’s something that Chris Archer can learn from. At times I feel Archer is a complete headcase when things tend to unravel for him and he needs to show more balls at times like Musgrove does and fight through tough innings more and not let things get completely out of hand.

I’ve come to agree with you about Archer - I don’t think he handles the pressure if things go south.  Musgrove is a bulldog.

Archer is going to pitch 2 times this week on this 6 game homestand once in the series opener against the Rockies and the final game against the Dodgers on Sunday. He needs to step it up and be the guy on this staff to carry the load while guys like Taillon and Williams are out. If the Pirates are to remain a winning team like they are now and continue to stay in this race going into June and July then Archer has got to start pitching better. The way he is pitching so far this season at times is just not good enough.
