Another atrocious start by Archer where he gives the Pirates absolutely no chance to win the game.

Archer and Kela deals were the big deals to improve the team.

Maybe NH has to stick to lots of bargain basement moves. His big moves have not been impressive.

got to hope Archer and Kela can be decent contributors.

If Archer doesn’t turn it around, I doubt the Bucs will exercise his option for next season.

They keep talking about tomorrow's starter. Did they not notice Kingham in the dugout and not in the bullpen? I’ll be anything that Kingham takes the ball tomorrow night.

This bad outing by Archer was par for the course for him. He entered the game with a 5.58 ERA. He actually lowered it tonight to 5.55. I feel bad for Archer because the Pirates and fans are expecting him to be more than he can be simply because of the bad trade that NH made for him. When they acquired him last year, he was not having a good season. He had not had a good season the year before that either. Or the year before that. He can't suddenly find the switch merely because of what NH gave up to acquire him. Regardless of the names involved, NH traded to acquire a mediocre pitcher. I think we need to accept that and stop thinking there's a correlation between his ability and the players NH gave up for him. It was just a bad trade, the type of which would get many GMs fired. But Nutting seems to have few expectations of his GM.

We basically have 2 starters (Lyles and Musgrove) plus 3 relievers (Liriano, Crick, & Vazquez) that Hurdle can count on. (Possibly Hartlieb & DuRaupa). The rest of the staff is a crap shoot

Unacceptable that the front office has not gone out and provided the team with another QUALITY arm

The one thing Archer has accomplished in his time with the Pirates is to lower my expectations.  If he can get his ERA to around 4.00, I will be satisfied.  Certainly not what I expected when they dealt for him.

Gerritt Cole, 93 punch outs in 61 innings. ERA down to 3.67. Musgrove needs to keep pitching well as he is only impact player they got back for Cole.
