How high is #Pirates price on Felipe Vázquez? Sources say Pittsburgh likely would ask #Dodgers for *at least* two of the Keibert Ruiz/Gavin Lux/Dustin May/Will Smith group if talks ever advanced. (And one source said Pirates remain unsure if they sell at all.)

Just a quick look at the 4 guys and would go with Lux and either of the catchers. Smith seems to be MLB ready but do we need a MLB ready catcher this season? Ruiz seems to be a good young catcher in waiting.

I'd be lying if I said I know anything about any of them, but they are Dodger prospects 2-5 (the top four actually since Verdugo is kicking butt in the MLB):

May pitched in the Futures Game. Guy has a spectacular head of hair.

No interest in Cory Dickerson really bothers me. What is it about Marte/Polanco that the Pirates are still holding onto? They’ve accomplished nothing.

Heard the hosts on The Fan this afternoon, and they were talking about the Bucs having some interest in former Red, Homer Bailey. Baileys contract is being paid by the Dodgers, and he is now pitching for the Royals with some success. They indicated he could be another reclaimation project, and would come very cheap which the Pirates would like.

Just not a fan of that brand for a young kid. Establish yourself first and then you can brand yourself that way. This screams attention.

You’ve got to be kidding me. What, are they enamored because he no hit us back in 2012? Maybe Bailey is having a modicum of success in KC. He was better than terrible in June and his first start of July, for whatever that’s worth. This would be such a typical Pirates move though. The Dodgers are eating his salary, so who cares, right? The Dodgers are paying him tens of millions to pitch against them, paraphrasing Billy Beane in Moneyball. Bus sheesh...Bailey's been terrible for awhile now. As in, really, really bad. He really hasn’t been great this year either, looking at the entire body of work, not just zooming in on five or six starts, of which three were good, and one was ok.

The Pirates have to either give up the farm to bring in a decent pitcher, or at least a guy who was supposed to be decent, or scrape the bottom of the barrel. Come on Bob! Be willing to eat some salary for once and go get a guy who can really make a difference.

Bailey...sheesh...this isn’t even making a move for the sake of making a move. This move objectively weakens your team. It’s subtraction by addition, rather than addition by subtraction.

My thoughts exactly! I checked out Bailey's stats and his ERA (4.40) and WHIP (1.411) are not good. In fact, they are worse than his career marks which is unfortunate for a guy who's only had a couple seasons that were not bad. For this season, he's pitched some very good games (surprisingly) but also some very bad games. Looks like that good/bad inconsistency is the best case scenario for him. So unless he replaces someone in the rotation who pitches poorly consistently, it's not much of an improvement. If they want to make a move for pitching, why even bother if Bailey is the target?
