I think right now this team has lost its will to win. They are a broken group. We need new management and new clubhouse leadership (and I mean players here and not the field manager) as well.

Having looked at that play, I'm not too critical of Kramer. The ball was a high chop, I don't think they would have gotten the man at the plate, and I'm very doubtful they could turn the 4-6-3. I think going for the baserunner was probably the best move, but the runner correctly stopped. I don't think Kramer had a good option.

Only saw the first nine innings of the game before dozing odd so I didn't see the conclusion of yet another demoralizing loss.

With respect to not having the will to win, I would like to echo the earlier comment about Musgrove. While he clearly is no Gerritt Cole on the mound, I admire how he gives it his all at both the plate and on the bases. His slide at home was better than that of many position players on the team; most pitchers never would have even rounded the base at 3rd. To me, that play demonstrated that he could be a leader (not because of what he says, but because of what he does) in the sea of hopelessness facing the team.

Unfortunately for all Pirate fans, all too soon after the much needed 3 year break from constant losing, the team is again mired in the abyss. The other day I advocated that they break the team down to the roots and try to rebuild anew. While I would start by telling Hurdle now that he is gone, I doubt that Nutting will eat the remaining salary involved with his 2 year extension. That said, someone in management needs to recognize that the status quo is not workable.

Mainer, since the days of Bonds, AVS and Bobby Bo, we have been status quo. I doubt they recognize anything now. The FO/Management has gotten lucky twice with the status quo - the days of AJB, RussMart and the first Liriano deal. Instead of building on that 94-win season and record attendance, they let people walk and the prize come in was Ryan Vogelsong. This is where we are. I fully expect the payroll to be down 20 more million for next year. Bob will turn to the fan interest as the reason for not putting in money (lol).

While at the same time, Nutting will be cashing in a big fat check from the first year of his new television contract.
