This is also a Ray Searage problem more than a Huntington problem.


I remember when some people thought Searage walked on water.
That started when several veterans who seemed past their prime had their careers resurrected under Searage. Liriano, Volquez, Melancon and Happ all did well under Searage. But he never had a lot of success with young prospects.

yep, and I would count A.J. Burnett as part of that group.
Very true. In the 2 seasons before the Pirates got Burnett he had a 5+ ERAs and NY paid most of his salary just to get rid of him at age 35. He had some of his best seasons as a Pirate. His ERAs in 2015 and 2013 were his two career bests. And his 16 wins in 2012 and his 209 Ks in 2013 were both career 2nd bests.
