Only the pirates get a double and the guy on second is thrown out at home on hesitation

Out of the few holdovers Cherington/Shelton kept, his name surprised me most.

There's got to be a better option out there.

Those fears have been alleviated!

We still need to be wary of Colorado, since they're likely to be terrible too. I like the Pirates' chances to reek more, though.

Two #1 picks in a row would, in theory at least, be desirable. The Pirates could then develop the talent into a contender -- or they could be like a mule with a spinning wheel.

Hopefully Manfred and his corporate buds won't cancel the draft in retaliation for Gov. Newsom getting recalled or some low class voters otherwise doing something icky. California is probably pretty safe from that happening, though.

How does a runner at 2B not score on a double? He should have been half way to 3B waiting to see if the ball was caught. Instead, he stayed near the bag to tag up. Since when was it a higher priority to tag up at 2B if the ball is caught rather than score if it isn't? FUNDAMENTALS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The scene:  Shelton and his coaches gathered in his office prior to the game.  They're discussing today's line-up.

SHELTON:  Hmmm, Reynolds probably needs a rest.  We've played five games in the past six days.  He must be exhausted.

CORA:  Yeah, he's a young, strong guy.  We need to take it easy on him.  We'll need him to be fresh three years from now when we're going to be competitive.

SHELTON:  Okay, so we'll move Evans from right to left.  Who do we start in right?

MARIN:  Polanco.  He's due.

SHELTON:  So basically, we're playing Polanco instead of Reynolds.  Yeah, that seems like a good idea.

Polanco lead off walk. Wonder what unique event might happen to prevent him coming around

I'd say that he'll attempt to slide into a base, get all tangled up, and crack his head open, but that wouldn't be unique with him.
