Home town guy returns. Happy for him. Wished he could have been impactful for the Pirates. Never took an inning or an AB off.

He ended 2024 with the Angels and has spent the past three plus months being claimed, and then released, by the Rangers, Reds, Orioles, Yankees, and the Orioles again. Being out of options is killing this guy.
The funny thing is, I suspect most of those teams are picking him up in the hope that he can clear waivers and get outrighted to their AAA team so they have a chance to work with him. But every time, someone else claims him with the same idea. Rinse and repeat.

Last year Tellez was Cherington's big FA acquisition to boost the hitting. After all, he did hit .219 and .215 the previous 2 seasons. Now we see how the rest of MLB views him. He went unsigned until spring training had already begun and then settled for a minor league contract.

Former Pirate J T Brubaker broke some ribs avoiding a comeback hit. Yanks not sure how long he will be out.

Just read the Orioles are going to attempt to build Contrares up to be a starting pitcher.

Contrares showed, for a short time, that he had talent when he was here. With the right organization, and with some time, he might end up being serviceable. It just wasn’t going to happen here. The Pirates have too many other talented youngsters who need a chance to pitch here.

Orsulak was well-liked and a solid player but those numbers don't seem worthy of the honor.
