Of all the head-scratching first round choices the Pirates have made over the past 30+ years, Moskos may have been the head-scratchiest.

Matt Wieters was the obvious pick but the Pirates didn't want to deal with Scott Boras. Moskos signed for a bonus of $2.475 million. Orioles picked next and gave Wieters a $6 million bonus. Pirates used the BS excuse that they weren't impressed with Wieters' throwing and that Moskos was MLB ready.

Mets want to unload Marte and his 19.5 million dollar contract for this season, and are willing to eat some of the salary. They may have to eat a lot of that money to move him.

Former Buc Roansy Contreras has been dfa by the Rangers. When he arrived I thought he was a keeper.

Didn't even realize the Angels put him on waivers last year. Looking at his numbers, he wasn't the worst around. I remember him being the "anchor" after his 2022 season, and was even talked up by the national media as AS material for 2023, and even making the Taillon trade a slam dunk steal. IIRC, there are some on this board who weren't so keen about him getting sent packing by the Pirates, including me.

Not wanted by the Yankees and Rangers. Not wanted by the Pirates and Angels. Contreras has clearly been seen by the top and bottom of the league. They must know something.

The Braves have signed Bryan DeLa Cruz. With their lineup he may fit in and do well.

The Reds have claimed Roansy Contreras from the Rangers. We may face him a few times in 2025.
