Once again, as your as the sun rises, , they are excited by the guys they already have under contractual control.
I know Shelton has to present himself as excited, but he probably should tone it down some. We all know what's going on. If the line-up was going to be filled with young prospects who performed well in the minor leagues, and we've been anticipating their arrival, I could see the excitement. But he has little to work with other than Quad A players, replacement level players, and a few guys who could be platoon players with other teams. I don't want air blown up my skirt. Just be realistic and honest with us.
But OTOH, Shelton isn't calling a press conference to make these announcements. He gets a reporter in his face asking for a comment. Between trying not to discourage the fan base any more than has already happened and trying not to discourage his players, he tries to say something upbeat. He'd probably prefer not having to make any comment at all on the upcoming season but I can't blame him for trying to sound upbeat when he has to give a response. I thought he was a horrible manager last season and hope he makes more logical decisions this year. But I don't blame him for not giving doom and gloom answers to reporters. The reporters all know how bad the team will be this year. So why even ask him to comment?

I know Shelton has to present himself as excited, but he probably should tone it down some. We all know what's going on. If the line-up was going to be filled with young prospects who performed well in the minor leagues, and we've been anticipating their arrival, I could see the excitement. But he has little to work with other than Quad A players, replacement level players, and a few guys who could be platoon players with other teams. I don't want air blown up my skirt. Just be realistic and honest with us.
But OTOH, Shelton isn't calling a press conference to make these announcements. He gets a reporter in his face asking for a comment. Between trying not to discourage the fan base any more than has already happened and trying not to discourage his players, he tries to say something upbeat. He'd probably prefer not having to make any comment at all on the upcoming season but I can't blame him for trying to sound upbeat when he has to give a response. I thought he was a horrible manager last season and hope he makes more logical decisions this year. But I don't blame him for not giving doom and gloom answers to reporters. The reporters all know how bad the team will be this year. So why even ask him to comment?
When Derek Shelton says "we're going to win" as he stated in the PG Article, he wasn't specific. Did he mean1out of 4, 1out of 5 or 1 out of 6?
