This looks like a GIGO kind of move. I guess reading the article on DK's site, he at least has 2 pitches that are above average. For a reliever, makes me wonder how he hasn't had any success if he has two pitches that good.

Maybe it's the ties to Neil Walker, I read he's the guy the Brewers traded to the Mets to get him.

Tsutsugo, Cahill, Miller officially free agents and off the 40 man roster. When Hanholder is added, the Pirates will have 46 guys.

Teams have till Sunday to make the 40 man roster only 40 guys or less, including activating guys off the 60 day IL. The Pirates have 7 of those: Brault, Cederlind, De Jong, Peters, Soriano, Underwood Jr., and Wilson.

Reds trade Tucker Barnhart. It's clear the Pirates will have some competition for 5th place in 2022, as the Reds have joined the Cubs in payroll slashing/rebuilding process.

I think it's readily apparent they expect Nick Castellanos to opt out of his contract. Most of their team appears controllable. It will be interesting watching what they do with other higher salaried guys (I think Barnhart was going to be making 7.5 million). Votto is full no trade, so won't look at him. However Moustakas (16) Suarez (11.3) Gray (10.9) Miley (10) Akiyama (8), if they start trading those guys, you can rest assured the Reds are salary dumping.

CS,

Think back, not long. The Bucs most likely didn't consider paying Starling Marte anywhere near that and sent him packing. Do you think they would even consider this? I don't see them changing.

I don't see them devoting enough to the DH role, either. Also, they may have Mason Martin plans in that direction.

How every season ends, and how every off season begins. Pretty cool thing from mlb site:

Reds going to extend QO and then get a comp pick. Not sure if it would have been better to trade him. I guess being in the playoff hunt kind of tied their hands.

Yeah. They had little choice, given the situation. This right here shows just how much money's out there. It's out THERE- somewhere ELSE. ;)

The guy turns down a $17 mil option, and they know that he's going to turn down the 18 mil QO because he knows that there is at least one of 28 (not 29) clubs that might go even higher.

Not bad for junk! :))))))
