Think. Sure, the Bucs probably have some suspects who are doing well.
While we think about that, how many stop to consider that other teams also have their share of suspects who are doing well, too?
When you're driving, you can look straight ahead if you want. The best drivers know what's around them.
So, these suspects from all over the place are doing well. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, every one of our competitors did better than us. The potholes are right in front of us.
Is there anything that anyone could say that is not of the doom and gloom variety that you would not take exception to? You have no more credibility than a wind up doll that repeats the same phrases in every situation.
Yeah me to, I really like Hayes just sad he's been stuck in the minors 2 years longer than necessay. Our minor league system has been so bad for ever. It looks like Cherington realizes that and is making big changes.

From 3 years ago:
"It's a tone that Huntington set from the day he took over in September, 2007. Faced with restocking a decimated minor league system and constrained by playing in a small market that makes splurging on high-profile free agents nearly impossible, Huntington has painstakingly rebuilt the Pirates from the inside out while stressing that success at the major league level would be the last step."
Same thing we are hearing right now from Cherington. The only difference is that it is OK to criticize Huntington now, because he is gone.

Farmer is my pick to click . Thought it would be this year but , ya know.

plus we have Moran who is just tapping into his game. Cruz who will have had the worst awakening a young man should ever have. He will be on a mission of life for the res of his life.

Every team has prospects. Some of our prospects will do well and some of the other teams prospects will do well. Some of our prospects will bust and some of the other teams prospects will bust. That doesn't move the needle at all and we are starting with the worst team in all of baseball. Waiting 2 years is nothing more than kicking the can down the road and giving Cherington a pass on doing his job right now.
If, over the next two years, Cherington built a major league team that made the playoffs, one that then had a legitimate chance to reach the World Series and win it at least once over the next three to five years, would it have been worth the wait?
____
I would rather see 5 more wins in 2021 and then ten more wins in 2022, and then if we compete for a World Series in 2023, that would be great. But, I am not interested in kicking the can down the road for 2 more years and doing nothing right now.
You've said that you want the team to improve. If it's improving each year for the next two years, on it's way to a legit chance for a title, wouldn't that meet your criteria? Because doing it your way doesn't sound very promising. Winning 10 more games two years from now would still make them a really bad team. Are you sure you're a Pirates fan?

Cherry pick much? We've been criticizing Huntington severely, rightfully so, since the end of the 2015 season.

Okay, you are making absolutely no sense here. Me and a couple others think this team will be much improved next season and playoff competitive in 2022, and you make a "kick the can down the road" comment when we said it. Then, you go and say going 24-138 then 34-128 before being competitive in 2023 would be "great".

One sports writer makes it a consensus? Did the quote come from someone who works for the Pirates? Was it our old friend Tim Williams?

I think he secretly likes to see the Pirates lose. Maybe he's a Cubs fan.
