Really hope Rangers can close it out in 4. Watching those 3 young men (around 12-13) surrounded by Astro fans was a lot of fun. When their pitcher got out of a bases loaded, no outs jam they were so cool to see. You could see on their face they wanted to scream and yell but stayed subdued.

For you 3 youngsters I am now a Texas Ranger fan for a few weeks.

Other than their hiccup against the Braves, Philly looks like they don’t intend to give anyone a chance. That line-up has been devastating so far. If one or two of them falter, the rest make up for it. It would be tough to bet against them.

Austin Hedges does it again
MVP! When the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl in 1997 and 1998, I thought Bubby Brister should have been the MVP for not playing. Maybe keeping Hedges out of the games is the key for Texas.

K’Bryan Hayes is one of the three finalists for the Gold Glove Award at third base. He has a decent chance of winning because Nolan Arenado, 10-time defending Gold Glove winner, isn’t on that short list this year.

Also, no Pirates player has appeared on the 2023 NL Rookie-of-the-Year Award balloting. If a player exceeds 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched, or 45 days on a major league roster, he cannot qualify for next season’s award. Among the position players who debuted this season, only Nick Gonzales and Alika Williams qualify in 2024. Several of the pitchers can also qualify.

I'm not trotting to the sports book and putting money on Alika, that's for sure.

Watching the post season, without the Pirates, gives us all something else to do. Here's a couple of guys, one a renowned Pirates fan, the other went to CMU, and both performed in Pittsburgh.

One of the funniest clips ever of Lenny and Squiggy:

David Lander, aka "Squiggy" (RIP) was also a baseball scout and a member of the Society of American Baseball Research

Houston gets its first win in the ALCS, 8-5, over Texas. That’s the Rangers’ first postseason loss.

A lot of these games are not exciting unless you are a fan of the team. Need more 1 run games.
