The time to start winning is now. If I were Nutting I would have called Shelton and Cherington into my office and read them the riot act. The display today was frigging unacceptable period. No more leash. I would tell Shelton and Cherington that they better figure this out and have a plan in place or they will not survive April!!! Same with the players. Start performing or you can collect your paycheck sitting at home on the couch!
I love your passion but, frankly, Nutting has no quarrel with what happened today. He let the entire offseason unfold as it did, improving the team not a wit. In fact, it’s been like this since 2016 so he’s obviously okay with it.
I get it. Nutting did nothing to provide the GM and Manager with better skilled options. But by the same token, we’re were told the accountability needs to come from improvement within. Even Cutch echoed that sentiment. I was encouraged by the results seen by Bae and Suwinski during spring training. However what we saw today was unacceptable from Major league ballplayers. I understand errors but what we saw was lackadaisical effort exhibited by half the team and that cannot be tolerated.
Ok I feel better now……..not really!
Entirely correct!
Don't be disgruntled. Be gruntled.

Nutbag would get rid of him if that clause was in effect.

That was funny. I guess your comedy will be only bright spot this season.

OFF TOPIC: Hey Surgnbuck, hope you see this. If you and son are coming down this summer and you'd like to golf let me know. We could go to my little Par 3. It would only take 2 hours. 18 holes all Par 3's. They rent clubs. (nasty ones IMO)

It's amazing, after listening to Dan Zangrilli last night, catching some of The Fan, WDVE morning show, the comments on facebook and Reddit, that one game has so many of us fuming. I'd love to say it's just one game, but like I mentioned, Zangrilli nailed it when he said this seemed like game 163 of 2024. It's like you went to sleep after game 162 and woke up yesterday after a 5 month sleep and turned on the game, and nothing had changed one bit.

It doesn't help that they lost exactly the way they said they lost so much last season, and yet showed nothing to change it.

I'm of the mindset that the Pirates, and from the looks of it, a good number of other teams, are pretty much just going to shoestring a budget together, rely on prospects and cheap vets and reclamation projects, and just get through the next two seasons and see what happens with the next CBA. The fact it's already being debated about now, particularly the comments of some national wags saying the game is better now than it's ever been and claim the parity in baseball is way better than all the other sports tells me the storm is a brewing.

Don't expect anything different for the next two seasons, save a cleaning of the house and a new management team.

I honestly think baseball is in major financial trouble, but the owners won't clue us in by letting people look at the books. I hope to be alive long enough to see it happen, because I think some of these enormous contracts are going to be defaulted on. Don't think it can't happen? Ask Mario Lemieux how he became a part owner of the Penguins.

He's never golfed before, but he has swung the club. We talked about him learning the game this year. It would be a joy to just bounce a ball around the turf again. I haven't played since 2018, and there's a bit of a story to that, because I was a pretty avid golfer.

It's ironic that when we were letting Doc know we were all pulling for his brother, I mentioned that we had golfed together. I remember the time now. Me, Doc, his brother, and Kovie played a course called Spring Church in October of 2018. My hip was so bad, I was in agony the entire time. I literally crawled out of my car into the house and called off work, and arranged for a doctor appointment. That was my last round of golf. I tried Regenexx for my hip, with little results, tore my Achilles in March of 2019 and was unable to golf all that year, I had my hip replaced in 2020, and by the time that healed I needed a knee operation, then had the other hip replaced in 2021, and didn't heal in time to even swing a club before the year was out, I had the whipple and chemo and radiation for all of 2022 and part of 2023. I had a severe bout of sciatica, Covid pneumonia, and fractured ribs on each side at various times through 2023 and leading into 2024. I injured my other knee at work in May last year, and it's now finally just about healed up, not requiring surgery but a lengthy process of rehab.

I would dearly love to do this.

We've also heard from the owner several times that the organization would spend when the time is right. These guys talk and talk, but never follow through. They've been doing it for years. They're lying liars who lie, and they always will be under this ownership..

Wait, are we still allowed to receive vaccinations?
