Why rot in the minors when you can....rot in the majors? :(

We don’t need to see Cole Tucker anymore or a lot of these other guys that are currently on the roster. What’s the worst that is gonna happen if Swaggerty is called up and given a chance to get 4 at bats a night and play everyday are they gonna lose more games?? I just don’t get it and I’m tired of the Pirates continuing to treat these high level prospects with kid gloves. Be more aggressive with these guys and call them up and let’s see what they can do. They will be better Major League players moving forward in my opinion if they are given that chance to play on a daily basis instead of continuing to rot in the Minor League’s.
Swaggerty was drafted in 2018 and played mostly in low A that year. Moved up to high A in 2019 and hit only .265. Minors were closed in 2020 and the Pirates moved him to AAA in 2021, entirely skipping AA, so they were being aggressive with his development. He got off to a poor start hitting .220 in his first 12 games and then missed the rest of the season with shoulder surgery.

I would call up Madris who already has a year at AAA and had a great ST. And Cruz soon. But Swaggerty is not ready. He was mediocre in high-A, skipped AA, then after the covid lockdown got only 48 ABs in AAA before missing nearly the entire season. So he's had 48 ABs in 2 years, is coming off surgery and has not yet been proficient hitting in the minors where his experience is primarily at the A level.

I would agree to call up both Madris and Cruz very soon. They have to find out what they have with Madris before some of the younger outfield prospects arrive in Pittsburgh. Madris could become a very valuable fourth outfielder.

One area where I always trust management is- when guys are ready. I trusted Huntington. I'll trust Ben. They see guys a lot more than I do. They see them off field.

Huntington was wrong on Alvarez, but at the time, it looked like the right decision. Most of the time, they're right.

I would think that they know the fans' impatience and the importance of winning. That's got to over-ride the financial implications.

If it doesn't, I would think that there's a price that will be paid.

It's in their best interest to improve the team as soon as warranted.
