I can see Nutting examining an audit of his club and seeing bats being an unnecessary expense. His players rarely need them.

Stupid, stupid, stupid base running by Newman. Even if the contact play is on, he’s got to be adaptive with a bouncing ball to 3rd. Downright stupid baseball.

Once again, the "running on contact" vs a drawn in infield (aka "commit base running suicide") results in nothing but a gift to the other team. Instead of 2 outs and a runner at 3B, it's 2 outs and a runner at 1B. The ensuing single doesn't score a run. Great strategy. ::)
