VanMeter single, Delay walks.

Can we get at least one?

Well maybe Newman can make up for leaving Cruz at third with a strikeout.

Newman looks at a fastball right down the middle...this club does that a lot

then GIDP. The real Newman is back

No decision for Contreras. He should have left with at least a 3-1 lead.

Very nice outing for Contreras. Not confident in Underwhelming taking over.

Gosh, who would have guessed Underwhelming would blow the game open for Toronto? (Probably everyone.)

This is the problem when mgt goes into every game planning to have the BP pitch, at the very least, one third of the game. That's every team, not just the Pirates. But I grew up on baseball when you didn't automatically do the other team a favor by taking out a starter who was doing well.

The highlight of this game might be that Robbie didn't screw up an interview with Maz. Interesting that in response to a question about the new team HOF, Maz used the words "finally" and "overdue." I suspect Maz speaks for a lot of Pirates alumni who wonder what took so long for a Pirates HOF. The Orioles have had one since 1977.

I had the privilege of spending time around Maz over the course of 9 fantasy camps in Bradenton. He truly is a very nice, humble man. He also has a great sense of humor. And as I learned the hard way, he's a very good ping pong player.
