Bob Walk said the Pirates had 33 different players on the IL this year and the Reds had more. Maybe the Reds abuse the IL as much or more than the Pirates. There are a lot of times when the Pirates need to add someone to the roster and a pitcher who recently pitched suddenly gets diagnosed with an injury and put on the IL.

Remember one point during the season the lineup would have majority of guys with sub .200 batting averages?

Churned and burned through a lot of fodder this season.

Another out on running on contact vs infield paying in. Seems like it fails about 99% of the time. And Pirates try it about 99% of the time.

If people hit you as hard as the Pirates pitchers were, you'd have to hit the IL too! :D

Maybe they need a new stat besides HBP. How about HTH ("hit too hard").

How I would love to see either the "Barron of the Bullpen" or "Teke" throwing the bullpen right now.

Geez, the pen miraculously holds up through 4 innings --- can they make it 5?
