The Mets top of the order returns the favor and gets themselves out on nine pitches, too. Skenes needs more innings like that. Still 1-0 Bucs after three.

It’s a little concerning that Skenes has been walking so many lately. I wonder if he worries that after his rookie success last year, teams are more prepared for him now. Seems like he’s challenging hitters less and nibbling more.

I don’t know if he’s throwing less fastballs this season, but I’d like to see him use it more, especially high in, and just above, the strike zone. I thought I read he has two more pitches he’s using and I’m not sure I agree with that. Four pitches is plenty when one of them is that killer fastball.

Mets tie the score at one on a pair of doubles in the 4th.

Roberto has to go
Triolo has to score on that deflected ball that goes into the outfield. Robelo appeared to be sleeping as it looked like he neither held up Triolo of waved him on. Can’t give up runs like that

Reynolds is really struggling. Had a chance to get a run home but struck out swinging at some bad pitches. The club needs him but he’s not been there too many times. Still tied at one midway through five.

Skenes through five on 77 pitches. Still tied at one.
