Gray has a career .238 BA in AAA with nearly 1,600 ABs. He's only had 33 ABs in the majors but flirted with the .160 benchmark, hitting a hard .152. He's shown power in the minors but strikes out once in every 3 ABs. He'll be 29 in March. Not surprising the A's waived him. Not surprising the Pirates claimed him.
Akila is now a little worried about his spot on the roster. This was a smart(?) move to create competition for the utility infielder role on the team. I can't believe that either Akila or Gray keep their 40 man roster spots all off season. Both should be gone for other players. Any rule 5 pick the Bucs make should be more valuable than these guys.

Some rules
1. Commenting on a deal is fine but no arguing back and forth
2. No number rating system in the past.

The GM meetings begin on Monday and I wonder if the Pirates will name their new hitting coach, or even make a roster move.

Can we just make this about deals? Honestly, it's getting tiring that EVERY THREAD turns into a BOB/CHERINGTON/SHELTON bash fest. There are threads dedicated to this stuff, yet some people every thread, those comments are made.

If you'd like examples, I'll provide them. It really needs to stop. One only needs to go to the beginning of this thread and read along and find it's already happening.

I helped keep this board afloat by sending money, which I never even got a thank you for. I don't see the sense of supporting a board where the same comments get spouted over and over and over in every dam thread.

If this is too bothersome, just count me out of this board forever. A guy got kicked off this board for doing it. Not sure why the rules have changed.

I can appreciate your frustration, Surge, but frankly, the Pirates owner and his management team deserve all the criticism fans can heap upon them. Since the end of the 2015 season, this has been an organization that’s given little to no effort toward winning, all the while telling us they’re committed to making the playoffs.

I’d like to only talk about player performance and which players to try to acquire, too, but there’s little hope this Front Office will do anything other than what they’ve done in the past nine years, which is to say nothing. So, if anyone wants to rip the owner and management new ones, I say, have at it.

I know, you'll post what you want. You've said it before.

I guess as an administrator you're above the behavior that got Green Weenie and Kovie kicked off.

More power to you.

Signing off.

Green Weenie just stopped posting. He wasn't kicked off. I don't know who Kovie is.

I hardly think that criticizing the Pirates owner and management warrants being removed from the board, even when compared to Kovie’s antics. And my position has nothing to do with how or what I post.
