A lot of what I am going to propose here would depend on health reports, but what about a trade of Hayes, De La Cruz, and one of the Triple A pitchers to the Phillies for Alec Bohm and Justin Crawford (Carl Crawford's son)? Bohm is getting crucified in Philly for his playoff performance, and Crawford is seemingly forgotten about in future plans and has been mentioned in trade talks involving fans, not necessarily baseball people.

The downside to Bohm, is that he is arb eligible, and may need to toughen up a bit, but if Hayes' back proves sound, he wouldn't be that expensive for the Phils to absorb. crawford can be a future standout outfielder, and Hays can fill the gap until he's ready. The Phils could use another starter to round out their rotation as there are concerns about Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez' ability going forward.

So the Phillies give up a good MLB hitter and a good minor league hitter for a guy with a chronic back problem who doesn't hit well and a guy who hits poorly and plays OF poorly. What AAA pitcher is good enough to make that an enticing deal for the Phillies? Assuming Bohm and Crawford would be traded, the Phils could do a whole lot better than Hayes and De La Cruz and a AAA pitcher. In fact, Hayes will need to play a full season healthy and hit well before any other team would want him. I would love your proposed deal. But I don't think the Phillies would be as enthusiastic.
