What I've never been able to figure is why a team that ends up drafting in the top third of the order every year doesn't have a loaded farm system. You would think by chance they would get some good prospects. They can't depend on flukes of the lottery system to build a team.
It could be that they are drafting good prospects, it’s just that they’re really bad at nurturing them into good major leaguers. Frankly, I think they’ve been bad at both identifying good talent and in developing it. The proof is in the past 25-30 years, which have been woefully short on young talent reaching the big league club.

At least they won't lose 90 games, so there's that. I think that should be the standard. Less than 90 losses is the new winnng season.

Great! Maybe they can bring McLendon back to serve champagne in the locker room.

Maybe David Bell could be the waiter. Cincinnati fired him even though he was on an extension. They appreciate the team played hard and the culture he developed, but felt they needed someone else to take them further.
Hmmmm......sounds familiar

Yeah, it sounds familiar, except for the firing part. That part is long overdue.

Well the Pirates got David Bell fired. Maybe they can do a double coupon!
