Today is their 152nd game. They have had a 2B/SS combo change from the previous game 114 times.
114 times?!?!? At two of the most important positions?!?!? When Dick Groat went down in 1960, did Murtaugh use anyone else other than his back-up, Dick Schofield, in his place? Peguero is Cruz’s back-up. He should’ve been the only guy to play SS this year except on those days he would need a day off. It was apparent fairly quickly that he has talent. It was apparent fairly quickly that Williams couldn’t compare to him. Williams getting all that playing time hasn’t changed that. All they did was delay Peguero’s development.
Shelton has started 8 different guys at 2B and 8 different at SS. In those 114 games, either the 2Bman or the SS or both changed from the previous game.
I’m fairly certain I couldn’t name the eight guys who’ve played SS this year, a number that’s insane. I can understand eight different outfielders, but eight different shortstops? That position is for the very special.

Bucs put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the first but, you guessed it, the next two guys couldn’t put the ball in play. No score, Cubs coming to bat.

Reynolds was talking with Rabelo after another predictable failure with runners at second and third and one out. Rabelo windmills the living squat out of everything, and Reynolds scores easily on that double by Hayes.

The frustration is just so high with the seemingly never ending inability to get it right at third, and putting the effing ball in play. The Cubs basically TWICE said, "here's your run" but no, Rabelo, Joe, and Suwinski would have none of it.

Keller perfect in the first. He’s probably going to have to do that eight more times, not to be critical. No score after one.

The Cubs get a runner in scoring position and have no problem getting him home. 1-0 Chicago after two.

Hmmm.....8 SS and 8 2B

Short: Cruz, Castro, Bae, Gonzales, Peguero, Williams that's 6
Second: Castro, Bae, Gonzales, Peguero, Triolo, Mathias....Maggi?

best I can do without looking at the roster for the season

Amazing, Suzuki rockets one to left, and Bellinger scores easily. Reynolds had a great read, and would have scored easily, but Rabelo I guess wanted to prove he just knew Joe would get it done.

I predicted Steele would set a season high for strikeouts, he's halfway there
