Orestes made his way to Japan, led their Pacific League in homers three times and RBIs twice. Led the Marlins in homers in their inaugural season.

A guy who had the last cuppa coffee of his MLB career with the Pirates, Benito Santiago

Appeared in a total of 6 games with the Bucs in 2005 before retiring.

Hall of Famer Jim Kaat played 25 seasons in the Bigs, and was going for 26 with the Pirates in 1984. I believe he was one of those 'non-roster invitee' guys. Bucs didn't offer him a contract, Kaat retired.

I'm guessing Kaat was the first to wear #39 after Dave Parker left.

I had a giveaway poster of him wearing a bunch of baseballs like hand grenades and holding a bat like it was a machine gun, in honor of his nickname "Rambo."

I thought it was awesome. Kids have no taste.

Central Catholic's Sam McDowell ended his career at age 32 with 14 games for the Pirates in 1975 (13 in relief).

Joe Coleman, who won 20, 19 and 23 games for Detroit 1971-73 ended his career at age 32 in 1979 with 10 relief appearances for the Pirates.
