When I think of Mercer, I think of the word dependable. You always sort of know what you are going to get with him. He barely takes days off. He hits enough to be a solid big league SS. He is uber reliable on defense. He doesn't make the Jeter plays, but he almost always makes the expected play. And, he plays smart. You never think about him throwing to the wrong base or making mental mistakes.



I also think they would be in big trouble if he got hurt. I think you could make an argument for him being the guy they can least afford to lose.

I like Mercer, and he will have his best year ever.



Then,we let him go FA and the young man gets some money.



Newman will be better .

I don't think he's a free agent until after 2018.
