That said, this is where we are at as an organization.  Bringing up a guy that can't hit a lick, but supposedly fields well.  After being swept 2-1 by a mediocre Cards team and losing 1-0 last night ... this doesn't really help in the grand scheme of things.

Two guys are "suspended". There replacement (bench players) are now hurt. Not many teams can overcome that. Lets just hope Frazier is back soon and Freese isn't that injured.

Well that's good news if true

Adam Berry‏ @adamdberry 58m58

Sounds like Pirates will send down a pitcher, not put David Freese (right hamstring soreness) on the DL. They had a short bench last night.

The main guys in the lineup such as Cutch,Polanco, Bell, JHay, and Jordy just to name a few are all going to have to step up. The Pirates will continue to either get swept or lose 2 out of 3 most series if this offense doesn't start improving here soon. They better hope Frazier and Freese aren't long term either or things could really begin to get ugly around here.

Really miss guys like Rodriguez and Joyce this year. I definitely would have brought him back. The Braves only gave him a 2 year deal for 11 million which the Pirates definitely could have paid but chose not too for whatever ridiculous reason.

I assume you mean the players Rodriquez and Joyce were last year, and not the ones they are this year. Joyce is having a terrible year so far and Rodriquez, of course, no year at all. So all in all, a lucky (or good) decision on the Pirates part.

You don't think Rodriguez wanted to be a starter? The Pirates tried to sign him. He left for playing time, not money.

Joyce was awful the last few months last year. He is even worse now. Not much better than Jaso for a two year deal.

Jaso: .121 ave, .216 obp, .368 slg, .368 ops

Joyce: .157 ave, .224 obp, .235 slg, .459 ops

I wasn't for signing S-Rod or Joyce because the Bucs are too much of a low salary team to pay non-starters that much. It is not a good idea to pay out for players career years especially when the players are over 30. IMO, it was very unlikely for S-Rod, Joyce or Freese to repeat the years they had in 2016.

How do you know for sure he left for playing time and not money?? Did he actually say that or did the Pirates actually say this?? This was Rodriguez one chance as a part time player to get a decent pay day and he took it because the Pirates didn't want to sign him cause they didn't wanna pay him which is usually the issue with this ownership and front office.

Had Rodriguez resigned here he probably never gets in that car accident which injured himself and his family. Hindsight is 20/20 but we will never know if that actually would have happened had Rodriguez re-signed here. Maybe he would have been in Pittsburgh at that time we'll never know.

Yes, not sigining him because of the car wreck is definitely hindsight. However we can be pretty sure that he was not going to hit like last year. Still, I don't know what price he would have been to us but I wanted him to remain on the team too (if it made sense).
