What could they do to change your mind?

I wanted Cole gone.  I soured on him in 2014.  My dislike for him only worsened as time went along.

McCuthen was awesome.  I loved this guy on and off the field.  That said, I didn't hate that he was traded.

My take:  I didn't hate those two trades but what I don't like is that I have "0" interest in any portion of the return. It feels like we had a huge opportunity to get better and didn't.

Question:  What could they still add (or who) that could turn this offseason around for you?

My want:  Had they traded Cole and McCutchen and brought back very solid prospects (3rd base especially) AND then traded for Yelich, that would have turned it all around for me and I would have been interested in going to the park.  That didn't happen.  I am now interested in finding out if you think there is a free agent acquisition or trade that is still out there that makes things all better?

I had zero problem with trading Cole and Cutch. Cutch should have gone last year though. the package as in return was ALOT better. Cole ... our idiot GM took quantity over quality. The Yanks offered a better deal of talent. I would have taken that. We wouldn't be looking for a fourth OF if he would have taken that deal for starters.

What can they do to change my mind? Care and don't lie. They don't care. If you care, then bring in good talent that can help the 2018 roster, not two Cammineros for the bullpen, a possible 5th starter in the rotation. Go out and spend some money. They got a nice big check from Disney thing. They will get another check from revenue sharing. The combined money from that is higher than what the payroll will be and that is by design.

Change my mind would have been trading for a Christian Yelich. Change my mind would be bring in a good OF that will help. They didn't. Change my mind is brining in a top 2 starter for the rotation. They didn't. I was going to say a month ago, change my mind is signing Todd Frazier. Now, it doesn't matter.

The lies have to stop. Stop saying you will field a competitive 2018 team. The fans aren't idiots. Be transparent.

So, nothing will change my mind because there will be no significant or decent acquisitions that help for 2018.

With the number of free agent outfielders still available I would hope they sign one as a backup to the starting outfielders. I just heard Rob Biertempfel on The Fan and he thinks Sean Rod will be in the outfield Opening Day with Polanco and Marte.

Signing a 4th outfielder along the lines of Jay would do nothing for me at this point. That is the type of move that they could take at any point in time and doesn't change that fact that this team, as now constituted, is sorely lacking in talent for next year.

Yelich would have been a big splash. Getting J.T. Realmuto would show that they know that they are weak at catcher and that they need more talent. Adding another real starter, perhaps Cobb, would show that they know that they need more horses. Sadly, we will see none of the above and no one who remotely equals the upgrade in talent that they would bring.

As I've posted, I want the team to move about another $10 mil in salary by taking on some of the contracts for Cervelli, Freese, Rodriguez or Hudson, and that reinvesting that money together with some of the savings from Cutch and Cole to add a good player or two who would be here for the longer term. And, that type of move would not prevent them from adding someone like Jay (1 year), Dyson (2 year), or the madman himself, Gomez (1 year, or a make good minor league deal).

If they weren't going to give up the prospects for Yelich, they aren't for Realmuto. That is going to command a lot. We have a serious issue behind the plate. Absolutely no depth and that is the fault of this GM. We have a frequently injured Cervelli now, backed up by a cheaper more talented kid in Diaz. After that, we have garbage - Stallings and no prospect within our top 30 listed as a C.

Cobb would cost prospects. Something NH doesn't do.

I agree, we won't see a good addition moving forward.
