Too late. He said he wanted traded.

If we were not trying to win. The FO would argue that we are trying to win, just retooling a bit- refreshing the roster. He may buy into that and back off from his demand, especially since we acquired Dickerson.

I don't think we're going to win a lot, but I also don't believe the doomsayers that had us at like 95 losses or whatever it was--even before this trade. While it's true we did absolutely nothing to improve the team, I never saw anything that said we were 10+ games worse than last season either.

I believe this team could still lose 90.  Especially after selling off some more pieces at the deadline this July.   Id guess we are right at last year, right now.   Prior to Dickerson, I think we were likely a worse team. 95+? Yeah that wasn't happening

Yeah a few games worse. Which don't get me wrong is no place you want to be.

Right now I'd say like 77 wins. That of course would change if we traded everything at the deadline.

Every time someone comes up to me (live or social media) and says the Pirates will lose 100 games, I offer a bet. No takers yet.

I'm with you Dog, this team right now with Dickerson addition is at least .500.

I really put a lot of losses on Kang and Marte last year. Their absence was huge. Marte is now back (hopefully) and Moran has ot be better than Freese and company last year.

The Pirates had so many players try to fill those voids last year and they were terrible. We gave so many at bats to Jaso, Osuna, Nqoepe, Gosselin, Ortiz, Hanson last year that would have been better to give to Kang/Marte.

I'm in agreement.  I'd put us right in the high 70's right now.  give or take 5.   If we were in a less stacked division, I could see us being a .500 team with most things going as planned.Going to be tough sledding in the division.

At least the Dickerson trade is a move that addressed NEEDS.  We're power starved and our lineup stinks, so we trade Cutch, who had 1 year left at 14 mil.    Then we turn around and sign Dickerson and replace that power, who is himself on a 1 year deal making 6million. All we had to do to get rid of Hudson's 5 million was throw in a middle infield prospect and 1 million.

So there's a lot of bad, and some good, and I feel like offensively we've ended up right back where we started.   Which is BETTER than where we were 48 hours ago, no doubt.

We've managed to be right back at about the same spot, and managed to cut payroll significantly and added some more suspects to the farm.

From a business standpoint, that's a success.   Nutting is pleased with NH's performance I'm sure.    From a baseball standpoint, we're not really any further ahead.   In my pessimistic buzzkill opinion.

Agree. Major questions for me still in the rotation that weren't addressed.
