I think the issue is not that other teams make these kinds of moves too. Of course they do. All teams do. The issue is that these kinds of moves are not the primary strategy of other teams like they are with the Pirates. Kudos to the Bucs for acquiring a legit player like Dickerson. But I think we were all surprised because it was so different from the dumpster-type acquisitions they generally rely on to improve the team. 




What dumpster dives were expected to make impacts for the Pirates?



I'm just fair in my criticism of the team. Every team has a Smoker. Every team brings in a Brentz. I don't criticize common moves that happen every year by every team.

I don’t think this is bobster's point. Rather, his point is that the Bucs generally don’t require anyone who might be regarded as a difference maker. The Cards DFAd a guy like Lucas, but went out an acquired a guy like Ozuna.
