Two years ago and with 527 at bats he hit 22 HRs. He is now more mature, has more knowledge & coaching, and healthy. If he gets 627 at bats, why can't he hit in the high 20's amount of HRs?

Well one is his career high in AB's is 593. He has a total of 1776 career AB's. His career HR/AB's is 36.24. If he matches his career high in AB's and hits a homerun every 36.24 AB's which is his career average. He will hit 16 HR's this year. I'll start taking bets now.

He did improve on that year you mentioned. He had even less games and at bats and more than doubled his HR total the next year (two years ago). If he averages a HR every 24 at bats like he did two years ago, he would be around 26 HR with 627 at bats. If he improves based on the reasons I mentioned, he could have even more HRs.

Cool so we take the one outlier year and use that. Exactly what I said people are hoping. I'm taking bets.

What's the bet? Are you saying Polanco won't hit over 16 HRs?

You brought up his first full season when he was 23 years old. You don't have to agree with me, but I gave you reasons why I feel he can hit more HRs than he has in the past.

Are you saying he won't because he didn't the last time he had 590 at bats? What are your reason(s) he will not hit more HRs?

No he won't lead the team in HR's.

You’re dang right I am hoping … Aren’t you?

First of all, no one should question you for doubting Polanco. I have been a critic of him myself. However, I don’t believe the shortcomings in his swing are as detrimental to his power as they will be to his average and consistency. Hopefully, he makes enough refinement in the early part of his swing to maximize the frequency of solid contact. If he does, with a full season of play, I really think he can hit 30.

Unlike Adam Frazier, who doesn’t overload his swing and can track pitches very well, Polanco previously seemed to get his swing out of sync on breaking or off-speed pitches. His swing breaks down and he can look awful. Be he can crush pitches in the zone.

Different players get it at different times, and yes I am hoping he gets it now. If Polanco fails you will be able say “you told us so”.

And what a great time to do it. Let's just hope Brault can hold a three run lead in the bottom of this inning.
