Missed his spot. It amazes me how hitters crush mistake pitches.

At some point, he is what he is.

It also feels like he has pitched in arctic temps every time he has pitched. I didn't look up his game logs.

I agree he just doesn't get to balls unless they are hit at him or in front of him lateral movement is very bad. He's fine if he doesn't have to move laterally and his hitting is awful most of the time. It's time to move on we know he's never going to be any better, surely we have someone in the minors I liked what I saw in ST of Newman and Kramer, I'd love to see either get a chance now.

Neither should be in a starting rotation in the majors. Brault has little room for error with his arm. Musgrove needs to be in the rotation, not in the pen. He hopefully will put one of these guys in the pen or in AAA ball.

The funny thing is I know what I get out of Mercer relative to stats. Take away 2015, he is essentially a 13 homer, mid to high 50s RBI guy. Not great, but I know what I get. He is more consistent than two of our starting outfielders. Who knows what they end up with.

I'm sure we are seeing JM's final year in Pittsburgh. He will be dealt at the trade deadline when we are out of it.

I still just don’t understand what Glasnow’s Role is on this team. The way the Pirates are using him is bizarre. I think the Pirates themselves have absolutely no idea what to do with this guy. I still think he doesn’t throw enough strikes, he has too many 3 ball counts, and still gets hit way too hard. I just don’t know if this role Glasnow is currently in now is doing any good for both himself and the Pirates team. It’s starting to get really frustrating that this guy can’t figure things out and get out of his own head because he probably has more talent then just about any starting pitcher on this staff and he can’t help this team win because he is still a complete and total headcase.

What would you do with him? I think they are just trying to salvage anything from him at this point. This might be his last chance in Pittsburgh. He isn't seeing the rotation anytime soon, he can't be trusted in high leverage situations so?????

The Bullpen has only thrown 53 innings so far this year. Divide that by 7-8 guys and there isn't much work for anyone. Only three players seem to have roles, the back end (Feliz, Kontos, Vasquez).

Glasnow has pitched eight innings so far. He has pitched more than Kontos and Vazquez. What did you want established for him this early?

Just win the series.   there's definitely a few holes and the offense is falling asleep, which was inevitable.  These are some sub-par starters the last 4 games, and the bats are slumbering (with a few exceptions)

Brault needs to turn that DP prior to the Story 3 run shot.  Or we need a shortstop who can move more than 3 feet in each direction of him, or a 3bman who can move more than 2 feet in either direction of him in the shift.    any of those would have ended the inning.

You get a can-o-corn DP ball to get out of the inning  in the heart of a powerful, dangerous lineup... you cannot botch it.     Brault's base runner count is OK but K rate is alarmingly bad. It's too low to succeed as a starter without a tremendous defense behind him.

Without starting pitchers who miss more bats, we will hemorrhage runs with this range-less infield defense.  It's as certain as death and taxes.

Defensively, there's nothing we can do about it. This is the team that was built. A 4 out of 5 starter pitch to contact rotation, and a sub-par defense behind it. Bats must wake up and bullpen must 180.
