When your team is 1 hit and has no base runners for the last 6 innings of a game; it makes for a very boring and painful watching experience. Definitely a waste of a Saturday afternoon.

Start the week with a 2-hit shutout and end it with a 1-hit shutout .... and another shutout in between. Too many non-competitve bats in the lineup these days. Hats off to Kingham for his competitiveness---he did his job.

Kingham gets charged with earned runs too. That should be an error on Marte for the slip. Unlucky. One hit won't win many games, but this game should be in extra innings.

Another loss series.

is that 7 series losses in a row? Anyway it has been a long time since the Bucs have won a series.

All the more reason to move him when his value is high.

I hate to say this, but I’m wondering if the Pirates have already given up on this season. Very disappointing.

I think all those blown games from the bullpen take a toll.

No reason to think the players have given up. The young pitchers are trying to establish themselves. The bench guys want more PT. The starting 8/9 are trying and generally doing a little over or under career stats. Polanco and Bell suck but obviously want to establish themselves.

But TBMTIB including NH and Hurdle definitely appear to have no interest in winning this year. So yes, they gave up before the season even began. They clearly are not interested in competing this year and will play Polanco, Bell and Rodriguez just to play them regardless of the losses.

Is Harrison even in Chicago?  Playing another game without a full roster.

He was there yesterday. If it's only a game (or two) what do you do? Send him down? That would be a bold move and weaken the team for 8-10 days.

can't send him down but we have enough relievers that one could be sent down if someone is going to miss 3 games or more.  For one or two you just go short handed.

Hoping that the personal matter is not an illness in his family.
This is another reason MLB and the Players Union should agree to have a 26 or 27 man roster, but you only activate 25 for each game. The day prior and the next days starting pitchers would be healthy scratches. I am sure the Union would like it since 30 or 60 additional players would be Union players.

Mercer leading off? Rodriguez playing instead of Harrison? Polanco playing instead of Dickerson. Obviously, Hurdle is not serious about winning. But when is he ever? At least Bell is dropped down to 6th. And it only took Hurdle 63 games to figure that out.
I'm sure glad I didn't waste my time watching, I feel sorry for the young guys, I truly hope no one shows up to watch Hurdles trash (SRod, Marte, Freese, Mercer, Rivero). It's going to take a real show from the fans to get the attention of this owner. He is so gullible, if he thinks NH and Hurdle can turn this team around. So frustrating.

Your suggestion will not fly with the owners because it will cost them more major league size money.
