He has struck out two more times and looked absolutely terrible in doing so. Greg Brown mentioned today how they said they still gotta give Rodriguez a bunch of at bats to get him going. Absolute insanity.

Many of us saw this as clear as day before the season ... but for some insane reason the front office was perfectly content to go with this bunch without trying to add 1 or 2 legitimate, proven starters. We certainly don't need any of those !!

Taillon: $555,000

Williams : $569,500

Kuhl: $570,000

Musgrove: $571,000

They owe Nova $9,167,000 this year and again next year. So the rest of the rotation has to be as cheap as possible. Last August they released Nicasio to save $600,000. That pays a Pirate starting pitcher for an entire year plus change. Other than Nova, I suspect TBMTIB is absolutely giddy about the starting rotation. NH probably pats himself on the back every time he helps Nutting take wheelbarrows of cash into the bank.

Bell with 2 harmless ground ball singles up the middle. He holds the bat high and behind his shoulder and swings down on the ball. He's strong enough to send ground balls thru the infield in a hurry but he can't hit anything except ground balls. Where's the coaching?

S-Rod is now at .145. Maybe they could hire Mario Mendoza to work with him and improve his BA by over 50 points.

How many times we gotta hear Greg Brown talk about how we  gotta get Rodriguez going and what a great guy he is and how tough this has been to watch. This is almost comical now to watch Hurdle continue to play Rodriguez so much every game as bad as he has been recently. Im not even going to get mad anymore because it’s to the point now where it’s hilarious. You can’t make this stuff up anymore. Huntington said today all these starts were pre planned to try and get him going and so far the last 3 games he has started he is 0 for 9 with 6 strikeouts.

How many times do the Pirates do something that only makes sense if they're saying, "What the heck. These games don't matter anyway."

I’m to the point where I assume there is no coaching. How else to explain guys like Bell and Polanco. For the most part, the Pirates are worse now then at the beginning of the year.
